IMPROVING OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH DATA BY EMPOWERING NEGATIVE DATA, BY CREATING AN INSTALLATION TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THE ASIAN HATE CRIMES

Our goals for this project are:

1. To spread awareness to the people that are unaware of the asian hate crimes 

2. To educate people on how they should treat all individuals equally in the community

3. To empower victims to speak about their experiences

Awareness - Physical installation

The installation’s main goal is to catch the public’s attention. The installation depicts individuals in the community discriminated against or anyone who has witnessed any acts of discrimination against a particular individual. For those who are too scared to say anything, we hope to encourage them to take action and to educate the general public of these ongoing events. The installation includes a cup and a dispenser.

Empower - Website

As our goal for this campaign is to empower those who are to scared to speak out, we hope that many will share their stories to increase awareness and to educate others about what has been happening in the AAPI community. It is a very personal subject to share a story of a horrible incident, some might be too scared to get attention from it and to be judged. Which is why we added an anonymous option for your name to be hidden. The individual will still have the ability to write out their story/problems without the worry of getting unwanted attention. Here we will share some bigger stories that happened in the AAPI Community and also add our own as well.

Educate - AR Concept

The Content of the AR will show the digital version of the installation on how many people had shared their stories online through our website. It will also have a 3D line graph showing the ongoing Asian hate crime reports and with our target goal if people were more educated about the awareness.
